Early Years and Education
Gyalse Tenzing Jigme Namgyal, born on January 9, 1962, was the son of Gyalse Jigdal Tsewang Namgyal and Princess Sonam Yangchen (Lacham Kushoe). His formative years saw him receiving his elementary education at Saint Joseph’s Convent, Kalimpong, followed by stints at the prestigious North Point School, Darjeeling, and the Rishi Valley School, Andhra Pradesh.
A Guardian of Family
Owing to his father’s illness, Prince Jigme assumed family responsibilities at a tender age, ensuring the welfare of all family members. Widely known as Pompola (Prince), he navigated his role with grace, becoming a pillar of support for those around him.
Family and Marriage
At 26, Prince Jigme married Princess Sangay Deki Namgyal of the Tsechutharpa family of West Sikkim. Their union was blessed with three children: Tenzing Thutob Namgyal (son), Rigzum Yangchen Namgyal (daughter), and Tenzing Jigdal Namgyal (son).
