Remembering Actor Manobala: A Multi-Faceted Talent
Actor-filmmaker Manobala passed away at the age of 69 due to liver-related ailments on Wednesday. His demise has left the Tamil film industry in shock, with several celebrities paying tribute to the multi-faceted artist. Manobala was undergoing treatment at his residence in Chennai after being admitted to Apollo Hospital earlier.
Though he was known for his comedic roles, Manobala was a celebrated director in the 80s and 90s. Some of his famous films include Oorkavalan, En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan, and Dhoorathu Pachai, where he directed notable actors such as Rajinikanth, Radhika, Suhasini, Prabhu, Sathyaraj, and Sivaji Ganesan. Manobala also shared screen space with leading actors like Dhanush, Suriya, Vijay, Karthi, and Jaya Ravi in films like Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Siruthai, and Nanban.
Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth Pay Tribute to Manobala
Superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, who acted in Manobala’s directorial projects, paid their tributes to him. Kamal Haasan shared his condolences through Twitter, saying, “Sad news. Manobala, actor and director, passes away. My condolences to his family.” Rajinikanth also expressed his sorrow on Twitter, “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of my dear friend Manobala, a famous director and actor. My condolences to his whole family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Manobala’s Versatility on and off the Screen
Actress and Manobala’s close friend Suhasini also expressed her grief and stated, “I lost my friend of 45 years today to COVID-19. Manobala was a kind and caring man who touched many hearts with his films and his acting. May he rest in peace.” Manobala’s contributions to the Tamil film industry will always be remembered.
