Ranipool Police Takes Swift Action

GANGTOK: In a distressing incident, three individuals have been apprehended by the Ranipool police in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a 22-year-old woman on the night of November 25. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted swift action by law enforcement.

The Night Unfolds

According to official police sources, the victim, accompanied by two friends, attended a local club to celebrate the pre-graduation of their university. The victim’s ordeal began when, after dropping one friend off, she requested the cab driver to take her to another club near Krishi Bhawan. Instead, against her wishes, the driver diverted the route to Adampool.

Abduction and Assault

Upon reaching Adampool, the situation escalated as the cab driver allegedly verbally abused and raped the victim inside the vehicle. Shockingly, two more individuals, identified as friends of the driver, reportedly joined in and sexually assaulted the young woman consecutively. The perpetrators later dropped the victim at 6th Mile.

Perpetrators in Custody

The swift response of the Ranipool police led to the apprehension of the accused individuals. The main suspect, Dil Kumar Biswakarma, a resident of Upper Burtuk, was arrested along with Bhupal Biswakarma and Sonam Tamang, residents of 6th Mile, Tadong. The trio faces charges under section 376 D, 341, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Superintendent of Police, while assuring a fair and impartial inquiry, stated, “We are taking all necessary measures to gather evidence and build a strong case against the accused. Our priority is to bring the perpetrators to justice and provide support to the survivor.”
