The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has resumed its Sikkim Bachao Abhiyan from Yangang, with the party supremo Pawan Chamling and his party workers wearing helmets to protest against the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government. The SDF has alleged that the SKM government is involved in violence and stone pelting on its party cadres.
This campaign was put on hold after a violent clash between SDF and SKM party workers during a meeting at Poklok-Kamrang, Namchi District, in January. Since then, the SDF has been continuously blaming the SKM government of indulging in violence and creating an environment of fear in the state.
The Sikkim Bachao Abhiyan was launched in November last year under the leadership of SDF President Pawan Chamling. The campaign aimed to protect the interests of the people of Sikkim and highlight the failures of the SKM government. The SDF claims that the SKM government has failed to deliver on its promises and has been involved in corruption and nepotism.
Pawan Chamling, while addressing the party workers in Yangang, stated that the SKM government is not working for the people of Sikkim and is instead focused on targeting the opposition. He further alleged that the SKM government has been involved in violence against the SDF party workers and has been trying to intimidate them. The SDF has been demanding that the SKM government take action against the people involved in the violence against their party workers.
